What to Expect

*Please note: I do not allow additional guests in the treatment room while I am performing permanent make-up services. Clients are welcome to bring a friend or family member who can observe the consultation and mapping portion of the appointment however, guests of the clients are welcome to sit in the waiting area or return after the procedure is completed.

During Your Permanent Make-up Brow Session

A typical eyebrow appointment lasts 2 to 3 hours, depending on service and client needs. The perfecting session or touch-up appointment, can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the amount of work that is needed.

A standard appointment will have the following steps:

  1. Profile the client: First, Tammi will assess the client’s lifestyle and taste. Do you want something bold or natural? Do you wear makeup everyday or just on special occasions? What face shape does the client have? This interview will help me create the best brows for my client.
  2. Measure and draw the eyebrows: Next, I’ll map and draw the eyebrows directly on the client’s face.. This will be my guide for the procedure. This also allows you to see the shape and design before any permanent work is performed.
  3. Numbing: I numb the area prior to any work. This typically takes 20-25 minutes. My clients can relax and even take a short nap. 😀
  4. Microblading/Shading/Machine Work: Now I begin the procedure, according to the drawing agreed upon with my client.
  5. Remove the excess ink: Once I have finished, there is lots of extra ink remaining on the client’s face. I’ll wipe off using sterile wipes and the client can see their new eyebrows! Except for some redness, the client will be ready to go back out in public, no problem.
  6. Photography: Whether or not an artist keeps a fine Instagram like mine, all artists should photograph their work for many reasons, not the least of which, to have a record of their own art! Pictures are take prior to and after each session.

All eyebrow services require a second appointment, also referred to as a perfecting session. All skin is different and receives the ink differently. It’s impossible to always accurately predict how pigment may heal. The perfecting session is where adjustments can be made to deepen the color/tone of the pigment and reinforce areas that may not have retained as well.

After 6-12 weeks, the client should come in for a perfecting session. This appointment can last as little as 30 minutes or as much as two hours, depending on the amount of work needed. In this appointment, the artist will make any necessary changes or reinforce areas that need it, including “warm up” or “cool down” the colors, to get it to match perfectly.

I may also reinforce any parts of the brow that may have naturally sloughed off due to various reasons.

At TLC Beauty Designs, I maintain a light touch in order to create as little trauma to the skin as possible, which results in finer, more natural hairlike strokes.

After Your Brow Session

The entire healing process will take from 6-8 weeks, depending on your cell regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure. The following day, the color of the pigment will appear much darker. Expect your brows to be very intense in tone and color for several days following your service.

*Note, that because of natural cell regeneration, after recovery period (peeling/flaking), brows may appear lighter than originally. This might give you the impression that color is gone. Pigment shifts in the skin as it heals and full results will appear at the end of healing (between 4 – 6 weeks following your appointment). Often even with proper care, customers may develop bald spots/areas, which may cause the brows to look uneven.  This is absolutely normal. That’s the reason why most customers need a perfecting session after 6 weeks.

Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin flaking off. This is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. Full results of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 6-8 weeks after your procedure.

Never rub, scratch, or pick the treated area, as it will disturb the skin from fully healing properly. This can result in scarring and pigment loss.

Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure will cause the color pigment to fade and degrade more quickly.

When using foundation, be aware when applying, to avoid your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.

Enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows. You will simply love your new gorgeous fresh look!

During Your Eyeliner Session

A typical eyeliner appointment lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on service and client needs. A touch up appointment lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the amount of work that is needed.

A standard appointment will have the following steps:

  1. Profile the client: First, Tammi will assess the client’s lifestyle and taste. Do they want something bold or natural? Do they wear makeup everyday or just special occasions? What eye shape does the client have? This interview will help me create the best results for my client.
  2. Discuss Client’s goals: Next, I discuss what style of eyeliner the client would like. Determine if there are any custom/special features the client desires, such as a wing, wedge, or dusty shadow. (If the client would like a special feature, I will predraw the shape following the numbing.)
  3. Numbing: I numb the area prior to any work. This typically takes 20-25 minutes. My clients can relax and even take a short nap. 😀
  4. Eyeliner Work: Now I begin, according to the agreed discussion with the client. I ask my clients to keep their eyes closed during the session. I will keep the client informed continuously throughout the process to ensure my client is comfortable.
  5. Remove the excess ink: Once I have finished, there is lots of extra ink remaining on the client’s face. I’ll wipe off using sterile wipes and the client can see their new eyeliner! On occasion redness, swelling, and minor bruising, can occur. the client will be ready to go back out in public, no problem.
  6. Photography: Whether or not an artist keeps a fine Instagram like mine, all artists should photograph their work for many reasons, not the least of which, to have a record of their own art!

During Your Lip Session

I take my time in designing the lip shape and choosing and creating the appropriate color. Clients are welcome and encouraged to bring in lipsticks, glosses, or lip pencil shades, which you like. This can help me in creating the color for your lips.

Lips are mapped and you will see the shape prior to proceeding with the next step. The shape is then secured with sterile translucent powder. The client’s lips are numbed. After numbing, the procedure then begins and implanting pigment may take some time for the lips. The duration of the session is typically a 3 – 4 hours.

Mature lips can typically require more outlining and contouring. Younger lips may desire light coloring, such as a blushed lip, also referred to as Aquarelle lip. This style is like a watercolor effect. More sheer than the lipstick application. I am trained in many different lip tattoo techniques, so I can personalize your results. Complimentary consultations for lips are recommended before procedure to make sure you are an ideal candidate for this procedure.

**Due to unknown Herpes Simplex I virus (cold sore/fever blister on the outer edge of mouth), a breakout of lesions may occur around the area of application. Taking an anti-viral medication along with with an over the counter amino acid, L-Lysine, is highly recommended. I recommend taking these several days prior to your session, and continuing through the week following your procedure.

Typically, treatments are completed within 3-4 hours, however time varies depending on the extent of design and skin type. I will customize the right look and pigment choice for you and make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

During Saline Tattoo Lighting/Lifting Session (Li-FT®)

What is Li-FT® Saline Lightening Solution? Li-FT® is an all natural, safe yet powerful and effective hypertonic saline lightening solution that contains no chemicals and no acids.

This is a non-chemical, non-acid, high salt based, fruit seed extract saline tattoo lightening product that is so effective it can lighten a tattoo or permanent makeup procedure to the point it is no longer visible. Li Pigments® chose very particular types of natural, clean salts in combination with each other in extremely specific percentages to achieve ultimate lightening and results. These special salts are then ground down to an exceptionally fine powder eliminating any grit and allowing quick and easy implantation and absorption. Li Pigments remains completely transparent and provides the list of all ingredients used in creatin Li-FT®.

In addition to the natural power of salt and the Osmosis process, Li Pigments strategically selected both lemon seed and orange seed extract for their powerful fading and exfoliation properties. With all this natural power, Li-FT® remains gentle to the skin and to ensure good healing and the integrity of the skin we added Aloe Barbadensis and Calendula Extract.

How many sessions will it take?  This can vary from client to client, based on each specific situation. You can read more details and information about this here.

During Your Saline Tattoo Lightening/Lifting Session

Li-FT® Saline Tattoo Lightening Solution is tattooed into the area of the unwanted permanent makeup, microblading or body tattoo procedure by using conventional tattoo methods. When Li-FT® is soaked into the skin, the natural effect of Osmosis begins to take place. Li-FT® is a hypertonic solution, therefore it contains a higher amount of salt than the body contains…this enacts the process of Osmosis which starts to move the pigment upward to the outer surface of the skin…then removed by the skins natural healing process.
